HUMANITY

The Humanity series is a project created to facilitate a practice of remembering and reconnecting to our humanness. As humans, we have the ability to destroy or to help, to hurt or to heal. This series is composed of texts, colours, and shapes purposely designed to encourage slowing down in order to reflect on our humanity and intentions. Each piece in the series is unique; however, the shapes used are copied from one piece to the next and reworked repeatedly. Reworking the shapes used reflects the struggle embedded in the imagery. The heaviness of shapes and lines contrasts with the word's meaning. The font in each composition is from the Aileron typeface family. The colour theories used include analogous, subtractive colour, and monochromatic. The words used in the Humanity series speak to us during our most joyful times and in times of fear and pain. The words remind us of our truest selves and our purest intentions.
